1. Information We Collect

Account Information:

  • Phone number (used as your unique identifier and for login)
  • Display name (can be an alias)
  • Password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never see your actual password)

Profile Information:

  • Age, city, bio, and tags you choose to share
  • Profile photos (stored securely with blurred versions generated automatically)
  • Contact details (WhatsApp, phone) — only revealed through our secure system

Usage Information:

  • Subscription and payment history
  • Reveal history (which contacts you've unlocked)
  • Language preference

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and profile listing
  • To display your profile to other users in the browse feed
  • To process subscriptions and payments via MTN MoMo / Orange Money
  • To manage the contact reveal system and daily limits
  • To detect and prevent fraud, scraping, and abuse
  • To serve the platform in your preferred language (English or French)

3. Contact Detail Protection

Your contact details are the most sensitive data on the platform. They are never included in public profile data or API responses. When a user reveals your contact, the details are rendered as a watermarked image — not as copyable text. This prevents scraping and mass harvesting of contact information. Original photo URLs are never sent to users who don't have permission to view them (Ghost Mode protection).

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on secure servers
  • Photos are stored on Cloudflare R2 with CDN delivery
  • All connections are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text
  • Sessions use httpOnly JWT cookies to prevent XSS attacks
  • Rate limiting and bot protection via Cloudflare

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only external services that receive limited data are: our secure payment processor (receives your phone number for Mobile Money transactions) and Cloudflare (infrastructure — processes web requests for security and performance).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • View and edit your profile information at any time
  • Enable Ghost Mode to blur your photos for non-premium users
  • Hide your online status and remove yourself from search results
  • Block other users
  • Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data

7. Account Deletion

You can request account deletion from your Profile > Privacy & Safety settings. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed including: profile information, photos, contact details, reveal history, and subscription records. This action is irreversible. Previously revealed contacts by other users will show as "Profile Deleted."

8. Cookies & Local Storage

We use httpOnly cookies for session management (JWT tokens) and localStorage to save your language preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics at this time.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as our platform evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Envie237 after changes constitutes acceptance.
